2008 Drive for Dreams Golf Classic
May 19 at The Golf Club at Newcastle

A glorious Day and great success...Thank you for helping Overlake Service League raise $154,000 to help children and families in need in our Community!

A fabulous day was had by all; kicking off with a breakfast starter from Starbucks as 140 golfers arrived for the tournament. Golfers received terrific swag bags provided by Intelius filled with wonderful items from our sponsors. Golfers went immediately to the course to take part in the Putting Contest in hopes of winning a cash prize and having their scores count toward the Hot Shot skills award provided by Tiffany & Co. Each player received a boxed lunch from Top Food & Drug as they headed to their starting hole. Beverages were provided along the way by Redhook Ale Brewery, Coca Cola and Pyramid Brewery. Players had the chance to compete in the men and women's long-drive, men & women's straight drive, closest to the pin contests and hole-in-one prizes and awards. They also had the opportunity to play the Cheating for Charity Hole taking a Tiger Woods advantage on their Drive.

At the end of the tournament, golfers were joined at the 19th watering-hole by another 150 guests for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, silent & live auctions, awards dinner, games and prizes. Holding the winning ticket for the 50/50 raffle was Shelley Turner, receiving $900 as her split. We had no sooner counted out her winnings when she immediately donated the funds back to Overlake Service League. A wonderful gesture of generosity! The evening continued with this sparked spirit of generosity, fun and excitement.
< The Cake Frenzy, where tables bid on fabulous desserts and then dash to select their favorite in order of highest bidder, raised $7500. The table with the highest bid at $900 selected the Betty Boop Cake that had a Marilyn Monroe Flair. A wonderful surprise to the evenings Live Auction was when Seattle Seahawks Sean Locklear & T.J. Duckett each donated signed footballs and created quite a stir. The big Winner of the Live Auction, Doris and Bill Brackney, walked away with the Lexus of Bellevue Champions for Charity Golf Tourney package at Pebble Beach and to close out the evening, Scott Harrison won the Heads or Tails Raffle Game with the final toss of "tails," taking home a 42" high definition flat screen TV, donated by Best Buy.

A spectacular day for everyone and our thanks to those who supported and attended Drive for Dreams and all the volunteers who helped make it successful!

Hole-In-One Prizes; Lexus RX350 from Lexus of Bellevue, golf cart from Perfect Golf, his and hers Rolex watches from Alvin Goldfarb Jeweler, and a Harley Davidson from Destination Harley. Sorry no winners this year but there is always 2009.
