The Endowment Fund

There are many ways you can contribute, now and later on: by gifts of cash, securities, real estate, or closely held stock. You can also give a deferred gift in various forms: a bequest, charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust or gift of li fe insurance proceeds.

Yes! I want to help, I would like to:

  • Make a tax deductable gift to the Endowment Fund online.
  • Pledge a contribution to be donated over time.
  • Learn how to contribute securities, real estate, closely held stock, deferred gifts, bequests, charitable gifts, annunity, charitable remainder trusts or a gift of life insurance proceeds.

Here are some of the types of donations you can make:

  • Cash - Perhaps you've received an unexpected windfall through an inheritance or received more proceeds than anticipated from the sale of a valuable asset, such as your home.
  • Securities - Do you have publicly traded stock that is highly appreciated in value but low in dividend return? Since OSL can sell your stock without incurring a capital gains tax, this may be the perfect way for you to contribute to the OSL Endowment Fund.
  • Appreciated Property - Real Estate and almost anything else of value can be given to charity. The property is sold by OSL and the proceeds are placed in the Endowment Fund. Take a good look at your assets; you may be surprised at what you can conver t to a charitable gift.
  • Trusts - Sometimes people establish trusts during life to provide themselves with ongoing income. After they die, whatever remains in the trust is charitably disbursed, according to instructions in the trust document. This, of course, can include fu nding the OSL Endowment Fund.
  • Insurance Policies - If you have a life insurance policy you no longer need for protection, you could sign part or all of the policy over to OSL for the purpose of increasing the Endowment Fund after your death. Younger members could consider the pur chase of a policy specifically for charitable purposes.
  • Bequests from your will - The most popular way to donate to the Endowment Fund is to earmark a portion of your estate for this purpose. If you decide to fund an Endowment through such a "deferred gift" be sure that your attorney uses the proper legal name and address of Overlake Service League.

You may want to donate to the Endowment Fund on a conservative level now, and then later add to it through your estate plan. Whichever way you choose, Overlake Service League is grateful for your support. Working together, we can make the future secure for all members of our community.

Whatever type of gift you choose, we would be pleased to provide you with any special information or assistance you need. Contact the OSL office at (425) 451-1175. The future is in your hands.
